Greetings! I agree, templates don't offer much variety. To make your blog your own, you might try:
1. "Customize". It's in the upper right-hand corner. When you click on it, it will give you a skeleton of your blog layout. You can add things or move things around. It's not the easiest thing to use at first, but Blogger's FAQ sheet on customizing was helpful.
2. Use html to customize your posts. (What??) No, really. There's a great tutorial at http://www.w3schools.com/ Click on Learn html. Then you can pick what part you want to learn how to do, like the code for inserting something or making embedded links. Insert your newly-learned code in a post. You can add things to previous posts, too.
3. Send an email to krl2pt0@gmail.com - someone on the team will be happy to help. Um, I'm on the team but I'm pretty new to blogging. I've read plenty of 'em but never had one of my own until now. I'm learning like everyone else!
